Events Planner

As a full-time event planner, you will create unique SCAD event ideas, concepts, and décor models, and will coordinate all print, visual, and social media, as well as web-related requests for your assigned events. Throughout the year, you will coordinate and implement multiple events and conferences in various cities and states; collect RFPs, quotes, and/or estimates from vendors; and work with various city and SCAD departments to secure permits, comply with ordnances, and coordinate space reservations, house- and groundskeeping, security, and more. You will recruit and manage event volunteers, ensure appropriate marketing and PR strategies for events, and meet regularly with the assistant director of events to receive and give updates on all previous and upcoming assignments.

Among other duties, you will be responsible for student, presidential, academic, conference, and community event planning that implements and supports the SCAD mission. You will also complete all financial paperwork (e.g., purchase requisitions, cost-summary reports, employer-classification forms, etc.), forecast and compile costs for budget overviews and monitoring, and interact with guests as a host and quality representative of SCAD at all events.

The successful candidate is a superb communicator with exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills. Highly motivated, flexible, and upbeat, the candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment and can remain organized and accurate while managing several projects at once. Time- and project-management abilities are essential for this position, as is the ability to create measurable outcomes for each program managed. Interest and knowledge of the latest design trends and change-makers is strongly encouraged, as is the initiative to follow-up in a timely manner to meet event timeline goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work outside office hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to travel to all SCAD locations and signature events
  • Five years of related professional experience in events or conference coordination

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in vendor management and virtual event planning

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
