Open Rank (Cryptography/Algebraic Geometry/Elliptic Curves)- College of Sciences, Department of Math

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at San Antonio is soliciting applications for an open-rank tenure/tenure-track (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) faculty position in computational algebra, computational number theory, or coding theory, with priority given to applicants with a proven record in applications to cryptography. 

The Department seeks exceptional candidates with (1) a record of high-quality research and scholarship, (2) proven excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, and (3) a demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban student population and support the University's commitment to grow as a Hispanic Thriving Intuition and a model for student success. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Doctorate in Mathematics or related field by September 1, 2023.
  • Evidence of research in computational algebra, computational number theory, or coding theory.
  • A teaching record in mathematics.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Ability to mentor students and supervise research projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with researchers within and outside the Mathematics Department.
