The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania inspires an understanding of the relationship between plants, people and place through education, research and horticultural display. Located in the Northwest section of the city, the Morris Arboretum is a destination for plant lovers from Philadelphia and beyond. The home to a collection of more than 13,000 woody plants and host to special and educational events: the Morris Arboretum is a hub for botany, horticulture and urban forestry and a special part of Penn.

The Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr. BSA) provides technical and process leadership for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Point of Sale (POS) enterprise systems and auxiliary applications that support the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.

Job Description

This position facilitates technical support, provides functional support, and streamlines processes with the goal of efficiently managing multiple data sources derived from various systems within the Arboretum, which include CRM/POS, donor and membership transactions. The Sr BSA will ensure optimum system functionality with the goal of providing efficient and user-friendly tools for our external customers, providing technical support to staff for POS/CRM systems, and leading assessments of future system needs. Works closely in partnership with Business Services Division IT, Arboretum staff, ISC staff, software application vendors, and, as needed, engage with vendor technical support staff, to meet Arboretum needs within University standards and guidelines. Analyzes, reviews, recommends, and coordinates implementation of organizational information solutions while giving attention to Penn's best-practices related to security. Recommends system controls and protocols. Understands Arboretums applications and related system integrations and data workflows. Serves as application administrator vendor liaison for the following systems: Outbound, Counterpoint, Rasiers Edge, and a growing suite of Sales Force-based applications. Complete department, divisional, and institutional level reports (e.g. PCI compliance, respond to requests involving audit/compliance related issues).

The position is the Morris Arboretum's technology specialist/expert and works closely with staff to understand business requirements and identify opportunities to optimize the utilization of existing systems to achieve the Morris Arboretum's goals. Coordinates CRM application software and hardware support including planning, implementation and development, system enhancements, upgrades, configuration, testing, and management of day-to-day operations. Analyzes current and potential business processes, recommends and implements approved IT solutions, in collaboration with BSD IT, ISC and vendors. In conjunction with BSD IT, project manages technical upgrades and improvements. Responds to ongoing reporting needs, which include performing analysis and extraction of data and presenting results in a manner that supports the client's needs. Plans and delivers user training. Creates and maintains business process and user documentation. Identifies and resolves problems working with vendors and University technical staff. Acts as a liaison with programming, operations, and technical support within the University and with vendors. Participates in vendor user groups to ensure communication of client requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelors degree is required preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related area.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in project management, application and client support.
  • Specific experience in using report writing tools such as Crystal Reports, and supporting applications, preferably supporting a Customer Relationship Management System/Database as well, as well as a POS system, in a visitation-centered setting. Working knowledge in using web and content management development tools a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing projects in a collaborative way, supporting complex business processes and employing innovative solutions.
  • Must be a highly organized self-starter with a propensity to multitask and prioritize responsibilities on a daily basis in order to meet firm deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Must possess aptitude for analyzing data flows, understanding systems interoperability, and process mapping.
  • The ability to quickly grasp complex business rules, analyze gaps in desired performance, use initiative, sound judgment and creativity to solve problems and to develop and employ an effective strategy to implement business enhancements.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with both non-technical and technical staff and translate between the two.
  • Must be effective working individually and as part of a team.
  • Experience with developing analytic reports.
  • Highly committed to providing superior customer service.
  • Love of plants and nature a plus.


Targeted Pay Range: $74,476.00 - $108,000.00

This Targeted Pay Range is only applicable to this job posting. All salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
