Job Description Summary

The employee will also coordinate and manage funded projects, including regulatory communication, protocol conduct, and database management.

The primary function of this position is to provide supervision and training for research coordinators; identify gaps in the compliance of research projects in accordance to all University, regulatory, and FDA guidelines; and assist in the development of new sleep-related human research projects in the Sleep Division, under the direction of Dr. Allan Pack. The employee will also coordinate and manage funded projects, including regulatory communication, protocol conduct, and database management.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Direct and indirect supervision of research coordinators and support staff associated with the Division of Sleep. Conduct group Coordinator meetings to discuss individual and study-specific issues and trouble-shoot accordingly. Conduct periodic one-on-one meetings.

Hiring and performance management of Clinical Research Coordinators and other support staff. Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct reports.

Institute training for CRC's and ensure current staff certification, licensure, and maintenance of relevant technology/skill training (informed consent, data collection protocol SOP adherence, PennChart, REDCap, and other IRB/OCR trainings).

Enforce protocol/regulatory compliance for clinical research projects associated with the Division of Sleep. Perform periodic quality control reviews to ensure full compliance with all federal, state, University and GCP guidelines (regulatory binders, subject charts, study documentation).

Manage funded studies and assist in development of new clinical trials. Maintain regulatory documents, IRB communications, and database management. Ensure compliance with GCP's. Prepare reports and conduct study meetings. Oversee the scheduling of patient/participant visits & testing when necessary. Oversee reimbursement of all subject payments. Oversee the purchasing of necessary equipment for clinical research.

Responsible for IRB communication and submissions for upcoming and legacy clinical research projects in the Division of Sleep.

Assist with the research and development of data analysis, questionnaires and protocols for upcoming clinical research projects. Provide expertise and support as needed to Investigators, and support senior coordinator/Project Manager regarding potential clinical research, CHPS and IRB applications.

Communicate with Investigators on relevant patient-oriented human research issues (OCR/IRB).

Qualifications

Master's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
