Job Description Summary
The Penn Lifespan Informatics and Neuroimaging Center (PennLINC) is part of the Department of Psychiatry, the Neurodevelopment & Psychosis Section, and the Lifespan Brain Institute (LiBI). Our goal is to delineate normal brain maturation and understand how abnormalities of development give rise to psychiatric symptoms. To do this, we leverage advanced multi-modal MRI imaging. Neuroinformatics Software Engineer

The Neuroinformatics Software Engineer works on large-scale neuroinformatics initiatives for the management and analysis of high-dimensional neuroimaging data. As part of these efforts, we aggregate, curate, perform quality assurance, analyze, and share many of the largest neuroimaging datasets currently available. These international efforts become publicly available data resources studies that seek to understand brain development and the biological basis of mental illness. Within these projects, they work in a team environment with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of faculty and trainees from psychiatry, psychology, engineering, statistics, and computer science. Primary responsibilities curation of large-scale imaging databases, pipeline development, image processing, and analysis of high-dimensional imaging data. Furthermore, the candidate will lead independent projects and publish first-author manuscripts in top neuroinformatics and neuroimaging journals.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Computational Neuroscience, as well as 2-3 years of research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. To succeed in the highly collaborative environment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Superb technical skills including familiarity with Python, Linux/Bash, R, Github, Docker, and MongoDB are required. Experience with neuroimaging tools (AFNI, FSL, ANTs, FreeSurfer) is preferred.
