The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Maine seeks to fill a fixed length, one-year, non-tenure track, academic year appointment as Lecturer or Assistant Professor, anticipated to start in Fall 2022 with a start date of August 29, 2022. Successful candidate with MS degree in EE/ECE will be considered at the rank of Lecturer and successful candidate with PhD degree in EE/ECE will be considered at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The expected duties will include teaching courses in the Electrical and/or Computer Engineering including some graduate and undergraduate courses related to Communications Systems and Wireless Communications and other closely related areas. The successful candidate will also act as a co-advisor for a cohort of undergraduate students and will be expected to contribute in service to the department (e.g., ABET preparation, course and lab development, committee work). The typical teaching assignment for this position will be three classes (or the equivalent) in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. Although it is not required, the successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue research and scholarly work. For example, the successful candidate might be able to participate in grant funded research of full time ECE faculty in the Summer semester.

Required:
  • MS degree in EE or ECE (or in a closely related area) by the date of hire.
  • Background in Communications Systems and Wireless Communications.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated university-level teaching in ECE and experience in advising or mentoring.
  • Potential to contribute to UMaine’s commitment to an inclusive and diverse student body that includes first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students in Engineering.
