The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Primary Care, Family Medicine, and/or Community Health with a focus on the science of community engagement, health equity and healthcare disparities, integrated behavioral health, mixed-methods research and patient-centered outcomes, population health, healthcare delivery research, practice transformation, population-based research, disease prevention and treatment, and/or community-based research. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D or equivalent degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include participation in the Perelman School of Medicine's outstanding educational programs at the UME, GME, or post-graduate level, as well as formal lecture opportunities within the department and the Penn community at large.

Clinical responsibilities may include (for MD/DO candidates) the opportunity to provide outpatient clinical care in the department's two Family Medicine practices (Penn Family Care at University City and Penn Family Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital), as well as collaborative partnerships with community clinics to address the unmet needs of our service community.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include building an independent research program, establishing independent research funding, and/or leading a collaborative research program, in areas of high relevance for family/primary care/community medicine, including but not limited to expertise areas mentioned above.

There are many opportunities to work across University of Pennsylvania Departments, Centers, and Schools on multidisciplinary projects and collaborations, such as the Center for Public Health Initiatives, Center for Health Equity and Advancement, Penn Medicine Center for Healthcare Innovation, Leonard Davis Institute for Health Care Economics, and the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, the Research Institute of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center, among others.

The Department's Center for Community and Population Health in the Division of Community Health will galvanize research related to community health and population health in the Perelman School of Medicine with a mission to address health inequities. A cornerstone of the Center is the Mixed Methods Research Lab (MMRL). The MMRL fosters the use of novel qualitative and mixed methods research methodologies with a focus on integrating key stakeholder perspectives and goals into research designs.
