Job Description Summary
The Enrollment Specialists (ES) will assist the director in the identification, recruitment, enrollment, and college prep programming for approximately 160 low income, first-veteran participants who are interested in pursuing postsecondary education as recovery from the pandemic is mounted. The ES will be responsible for developing, organizing, and conducting activities and support services that will encourage and enable students to adequately prepare for veteran completion and enrolling in post-secondary institutions. The ES will also actively participate in recruiting student through promotional activities such as personal contact with counselors, potential participants individually and in groups; schedule visits to civic, community, and veterans' organizations; develop college fairs, panel discussions, presentations, and newsletters, and will be responsible for special recruiting programs requiring pandemic-tailored recruiting efforts.

Candidates for this position must have the demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work in complex virtual team and program environments and must be able to effectively use a variety of digital applications and tools to provide program services, adhere to program timelines, communicate, and collaborate with team members and program participants. They must demonstrate competence in the use of digital tools including team platforms, publications software, e-curriculum content, web conferencing, instant messaging, data gathering, and reporting software. Specific skills essential for this staff colleague to be successful and effective in meeting their project milestones also include evidenced skill with managing social media, creating virtual content, and curating ongoing digital outreach to program participants to support the provision of best-in-class program content and services.

Job Description

DUTIES:
  • Coordinate expanded Veterans Upward Bound recruitment, educational, counseling, and cultural activities.
  • Design and facilitate in person and virtual enrollment and workshops/information sessions for potential Veterans Upward Bound participants.
  • Collaborate with target students and core services to deliver pre-college services that meet the critical academic needs of participants.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with students to ensure the delivery of services.
  • Assist in monitoring participants' academic progress from their date of program entry through their program full enrollment.
  • Provide daily reports of the use and effectiveness of recruitment and enrollment service delivery.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field required. Masters Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of programming experience, preferably in college access and prep programs.
  • Experience in veteran and/or college admissions recruitment
  • Knowledge about the college preparatory process.
  • Experience with externally funded, federal, or state academic support programs.
  • Strong leadership, organization, interpersonal, written and presentation communication and information management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving and preparing underserved, racially and culturally diverse students for academic success and post-secondary enrollment
  • Experience working with low-income, first-generation students.
  • Experience with instructional design and virtual learning environment.
  • Strong organizational, programming, motivational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, presentation and technology skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
