Associate Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program; Assistant Professor, AC Track, Division of Infectious Diseases

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Oct 22, 2021
Deadline: Oct 22, 2023 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include high quality teaching of CHOP fellows and residents as well as medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing coverage in two inpatient consultation services, one service focused on children with general infectious diseases and another dedicated to the care of immunocompromised hosts. Additionally, as CHOP expands its footprint (i.e. - King of Prussia Hospital) and the Division of Infectious Diseases partners with outside organizations, some local travel may be required. The division also has a busy outpatient clinical practice. In addition to our General Infectious Diseases Clinic, we have dedicated "partner-clinics" to provide collaborative outpatient care to outpatients with other underlying conditions, including malignancies, bone marrow and organ transplantation and cystic fibrosis.

Administrative responsibilities include serving as an Associate Medical Director of the CHOP Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP). The ASP is a multidisciplinary team that supports stewardship activities at both the Philadelphia campus and the newly constructed King of Prussia Hospital. The Associate Medical Director, in collaboration with the Medical Director, will advance an agenda that expands the ASP's current activities, with a focus on quality improvement, patient safety, and interdisciplinary collaboration and education to improve antimicrobial use across the enterprise, including in the ambulatory setting. In addition to strong infectious diseases clinical skills, prior experience with quality improvement methodology is preferred.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are EOEs. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
