SCAD Savannah seeks a chair of architecture to direct, coordinate, and evaluate an unparalleled program that pushes the boundaries of design education.

In this role, you will oversee daily operations and foster interdepartmental collaboration as you continue to enhance the reputation of the SCAD architecture department in academic and professional circles. Working with the dean and department members, you will provide professional development opportunities to faculty and design a strategic plan consistent with the School of Building Arts’ goals and the overall SCAD strategic plan. You will also plan curriculum and faculty teaching schedules; oversee departmental budget, including its development and implementation; work with the admission department to recruit undergraduate and graduate students to SCAD and to the department; evaluate professors; and teach classes annually, among other duties.

The successful candidate is innovative, energetic, and has personal and professional integrity. The candidate should have proven leadership and managerial skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving capabilities to motivate students and faculty of diverse backgrounds to think creatively and critically. Leadership and supervisory experience in academia is preferred.

Requirements
  • M.Arch. or its equivalent or a terminal degree in a related field
  • Professional industry experience, licensure, and certifications
  • Experience with curriculum development
