Junior/Senior Housing Research Analyst
The Housing Initiative at Penn (HIP) seeks applications for a Research Analyst (junior or senior, depending on experience) to conduct economic and demographic research related to housing insecurity and housing assistance. HIP is an initiative based out of PennPraxis at the University of Pennsylvania that is dedicated to achieving more effective, equitable housing policy at the local, state, and national levels. HIP advances policy through rigorous research, civic partnerships, and honest and inclusive planning processes. As a member of the HIP research team, the Research Analyst will contribute to HIP research
reports, briefs, events, and communications.

Projects
Since the Spring of 2020, HIP has worked intensively with a set of municipal and state partners to evaluate their emergency rental assistance programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, HIP is also conducting and analyzing a series of surveys of rental assistance program administrators across the country to understand these programs' structure and performance. The Housing Research Analyst will report directly to the Director of HIP and work closely with HIP's Rental Assistance Research Manager. As the Housing Research Analyst, you will assist with the above projects and with other research related to Section 8 housing vouchers, eviction and displacement, and racial and socioeconomic inequality in access to housing resources.

Essential Functions
● Works directly with municipal and other partners to gather large-scale administrative data
● Carries out economic and demographic research through the statistical analysis of administrative
data, consumer credit data, and large-scale public databases
● Provides statistical analysis, graphical analysis, and database management; participates in design
of research methods and approaches
● Reviews data and literature related to rental assistance and other housing policies as needed
● Prepares material for reports, working papers, and journal articles independently or in collaboration with staff/faculty
● Works collaboratively as part of a tight-knit team
