Job Description Summary
The PennCAP Associate Director will provide leadership, advocate for, and enable the optimal provision of high-quality counseling programs and services to a diverse, expanded, population of PennCAP students. In addition to providing guidance and consultation to all PennCAP counseling staff, the Associate Director will be expected to develop strong, collaborative working relationships with the full array of campus partner and resource organizations. They will also provide ongoing counseling, outreach, and support to help increase the success, retention, and graduation of students who participate in the PennCAP Program, Penn's comprehensive support program for FGLI undergraduates. Responsibilities will also include the leadership and direction for PennCAP counseling staff members as they support students through direct service, outreach, consultation, and crisis intervention.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative -
  • Oversee PennCAP counseling services and initiatives, including the strategic direction PennCAP Counseling Services.
  • Supervise full time counseling staff, providing administrative oversight for assuring the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct for the PennCAP professional and peer counseling staffs
  • Develop strong, collaborative working relationship across campus to facilitate efforts to support student well-being and success.
  • Develop and assess new and existing outreach programs that promote and provide practical effective education and skills for students through seminars, workshops, groups and other engagement events.
  • Oversee the Peer Mentoring Program
  • Oversee the Summer Grant-in-Aid Program
  • Act as Liaison to Penn First Plus Program
  • Lead special projects designed to support students' progress towards degree completion
  • Other Duties as assigned


Counseling -
  • Provide ongoing individual personal, academic, career, and financial counseling and support to assigned students, increasing counseling and monitoring as necessary to students designated as at - risk or on probation
  • Provide ongoing proactive outreach to assigned students to inform and support, through their Penn experience


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, Social Work or other related field
  • Three to five years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong supervisory and administrative skills
  • Excellent counseling communication, writing, computing and organization skills
  • Ability to plan and implement programs and events.
  • Experience working in a University setting with low students
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity

Budgeted Pay Range: $70,000-$75,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
