Job Description Summary
ITMAT Education is seeking an instructional designer (ID) to support the development of online education and training for all ITMAT Education degree and non-degree programs, and specifically for the permanent transition of the Master of Regulatory Affairs program online. The ID will support all ITMAT Education course instructors in the development, design, maintenance, and evaluation of approximately 3online courses per term. Additionally, the ID will work with instructors and program staff to establish new online courses. The ID will play a critical role by providing both pedagogy and technology expertise support to faculty that enhances the teaching and learning experience.

Job Description

The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (ITMAT) supports research at the interface of basic and clinical research focusing on developing new and safer therapeutics. ITMAT is at the forefront of US and global academic institutions, developing and implementing world class innovative educational programs designed to facilitate training of clinical and translational scientists and research support staff.

ITMAT Education is seeking an instructional designer (ID) to support the development of online education and training for all ITMAT Education degree and non-degree programs, and specifically for the permanent transition of the Master of Regulatory Affairs program online. The ID will support all ITMAT Education course instructors in the development, design, maintenance, and evaluation of approximately 3online courses per term. Additionally, the ID will work with instructors and program staff to establish new online courses. The ID will play a critical role by providing both pedagogy and technology expertise support to faculty that enhances the teaching and learning experience.

The ID will work closely with the ITMAT Ed program staff and teaching faculty to support the management of online content and collaborate broadly across PSOM and the Penn Online Learning Initiative.

The ID will be responsible for
  • Working with instructors to develop effective strategies and content focused on online pedagogy including but not limited to: the use of educational technology tools, interactive assessments, media based content, and online meeting platforms.
  • Partnering with program staff to develop online content for courses, workshops, professional development sessions, and other online events.
  • Regularly reviewing and updating online teaching and learning best practices, online development timelines and expectations as needed.
  • Developing best practices for online tools instructors may utilize.
  • Researching online tools to be used in online courses, workshops, and professional development sessions.
  • Overseeing the logistical arrangements for new and existing courses including managing Canvas, the learning management system, Curriculum Manager, the course inventory management, and Course Evaluations.
  • Supporting instructors in updating/revising curriculum materials.
  • Tracking the student and instructor online experience and communicate this to program staff and faculty leadership.
  • Maintaining website content for the various programs and publicizing the program.
  • Tracking data analytics including developing, administering, and analyzing the evaluation data for the new and existing programs.
  • Coordinating info sessions, seminars, workshops, and special events.
  • Serving as the liaison between the program and central online working groups.


Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Salary: The job pay range encompasses the full range of employees from new hires to the salaries of Penn employees with many years of experience and seniority and is not a precise indicator of salaries of new hires when looking at the top end. Based on what we pay employees coming into this position our pay range is $55,000-$60,000, based on education and experience above the minimum qualifications
