The Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Instructor positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Internal Medicine is required.

Responsibilities may include meeting with mentors at least bi-weekly and engaging in research seminars at the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP), the Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM), and the Leonard Davis Institute (LDI). In addition, the candidate maybe required to complete additional training for career development as appropriate, to advance expertise in areas such as health services research, qualitative methods, longitudinal analyses, implementation science, outcomes research, and advanced statistical methods.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop research skills in areas of high relevance for general internal medicine, including but not limited to health services and policy research: comparative effectiveness, health economics, health equity, behavioral economics, community-based participatory research, quality improvement, clinical informatics, implementation science, epidemiology, and disease prevention.

Candidates for the Instructor position are those who have substantial potential to engage in high-impact scholarship but may require additional academic training and mentorship to prepare for a faculty position.
