POSITION
The Director, Coalition for Educational Equity, is responsible for the design, delivery, execution and assessment of all facets of the Coalition for Educational Equity. The purpose of the Coalition is to provides innovative resources, research-based training, and technical assistance and consultation to school district leaders throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Its focus has been to develop networks of school districts and school district leaders that are focused on eliminating achievement and attainment disparities defined by race/ethnicity, economics, gender, or (dis)ability. Members share a commitment to ensure that all students have equitable opportunities to access high-level, meaningful, and engaging learning experiences, while actively eliminating institutional barriers in district and school policy and practice that limit or deny this access.

Job Description

Duties:

The Director is responsible for the development and effective delivery of current and new equity-focused programs and initiatives and provide leadership and oversight for the regional and national expansion of the work of the Coalition for Educational Equity. The Director is responsible for recruiting and retaining members as well as operating and maintaining regional district consortia focused on Education Equity. The Director is also responsible for nurturing the development of strategic partnerships, surveying the PreK-16 ecosphere and landscape for assessing research and practitioner needs, providing direct technical assistance and training to school district leaders, and collaborating with PennGSE faculty and staff to advance educational equity regionally and nationally. S/he/they is accountable to raise externally sponsored funding to support existing and new programs.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • establishment and nurturing of sustained relationships with current and new external and internal partners;
  • development and oversight of annual programming for regional school district consortia and Coalition clients;
  • creation and management of annual program budgets;
  • development, oversight and management of new grants and contracts;
  • presentations to professional organizations, potential collaborators and funders;
  • cultivating and sustaining consortia membership;
  • management and professional growth of program staff

Qualifications:

A Master's degree and 5-7 years relevant experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Doctoral degree preferred. Additional qualifications include:
  • Track record of developing research-based, compelling professional development opportunities in educational equity
  • Passion for and experience in identifying new research on equity and leadership in education environments
  • Proven ability to raise external funding to support new initiatives
  • Excellent organizational and program management skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting
  • Superior communication and presentation skills with ability to communicate information clearly and concisely with senior leaders
  • Skill to understand and propose products and solutions by focusing on client requirements and experience delivering solutions in a consultative environment
  • Team player with capabilities to manage diverse stakeholder priorities toward consensus
  • High energy, results orientation and creativity
  • Management experience strongly preferred
