Job Description Summary
One of two full-time administrators, the General Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of all student agencies within Penn Student Agencies (PSA). The General Manager is the direct supervisor of all student leadership and the Financial Assistant. The role advises PSA students on staff management, personnel, marketing, customer service, and fiscal responsibility and reports to the Associate Director of Finance and Administration within University Life Space and Events Management.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage the business operations of PSA, 10 student-run businesses. Oversee financial, personnel, and administrative functions in accordance with University policies and procedures
  • Provide experiential and leadership training and mentorship to undergraduate students involved in the operation of student-run, on-campus businesses
  • Supervise one full-time staff responsible for financial transactions and general support
  • Assist student entrepreneurs in research, implementation, and evaluation of new products and services and enhancements to existing products and services to ensure future successful operation of PSA
  • Work with both university stakeholders and non-university vendors on product, service, and support partnerships. Negotiate contracts and review with University Office of the General Counsel and Procurement Services as appropriate
  • Maintain PSA websites and approve all marketing materials for all businesses
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Customer service experience required
  • Budget forecasting and general accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with Penn's financial systems preferred
  • Previous experience in higher education and student affairs preferred
