Job Description Summary

The Application & Information Services (AIS) Group is responsible for planning, acquiring, developing, and maintaining the university's core business and student support systems.

Applications and Information Services (AIS), a unit within Information Systems and Computing (ISC), works with University clients to plan, acquire, develop, and maintain the University's core business and student support systems.

AIS is currently seeking a Senior Project Leader. Primary function and purpose of this position is to provide leadership to IT Projects from concept through implementation. It involves working with University clients to understand the business problem to be solved, devising proposed solutions, forging agreement on the most appropriate solution then implementing it. It is responsible for defining project scope, ensuring staff and financial resources are acquired, building and monitoring project plans, tasks and budgets. Ensures end project delivered to client meets the stated business need.

Duties

This position is to provide leadership to IT Projects from concept through implementation. It involves working with University clients to understand the business problem to be solved, devising proposed solutions, forging agreement on the most appropriate solution then implementing it. It is responsible for defining project scope, ensuring staff and financial resources are acquired, building and monitoring project plans, tasks and budgets. Ensures end project delivered to client meets the stated business need.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage relationships with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Information Technology and a minimum of four years of experience in successful management of small to mid-sized projects with a high level of complexity and business criticality or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in implementing systems to improve the efficiency of an organization.
  • Prior experience in facilitating change, including collaboration with IT colleagues and client stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Organized with ability to delegate effectively.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite of applications and Project Management software.
  • PMP and Agile credentials a plus
