Job Description Summary
Reports to: Senior Director of Development for the Abramson Cancer Center and Department of Radiation Oncology

Summary: Responsible for providing internal and external support for the grateful patient major gifts fundraising program, Abramson Cancer Center development team. Duties will be project-related and will support a Senior Director of Development (Sr. DoD) with prospect identification, cultivation, stewardship, donor relations, proposal preparation, data management, and event/meeting coordination.

Specific Responsibilities:

Donor Relations. Ensure accurate recording of gifts and communication with donors and departments. Work collaboratively with the Sr. DoD and administrative staff to help ensure that donor acknowledgements by key faculty take place.

Cultivation. Work collaboratively with the Sr. DoD to provide support in the identification and cultivation of new prospective donors. Assist in the process to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors in the range of $10-25K

Stewardship. Produce and/or coordinate stewardship reports/activities for donors with Communications staff and Sr. DoD, including annual reports, thank you letters, recognition pieces, and faculty meetings. Manage donor recognition projects including production of plaques and select publication pieces.

Proposal/letter writing and coordination of briefing materials. Responsible for the drafting of select gift proposals, assisting Sr. DoD with regard to the drafting of invitation letters, reports, select correspondence, and briefing materials for faculty, development colleagues, and institutional leadership.

Prospect Management. Maintain primary responsibility for the tracking and management of prospect and gift data, including the retrieval of data and production and analysis of reports.

Volunteer Involvement. Working with the Sr. DoD, provide assistance with the production of materials and logistical arrangements as needed for donor involvement through volunteer leadership councils.

Special Events. Work with major gifts and institutional events teams to help plan, staff and coordinate meetings and special events related to prospect/donor activity as needed.


Bachelor's degree required; 1-3 years relevant experience in fast-paced office environment or equivalent combination of education and experience required, preferably in institutional development, with exposure to prospect management, annual giving, major gifts, volunteer management, and stewardship. Exposure to medical fundraising highly desired.

Strong administrative experience and the ability to establish objectives and organize a successful approach to achieving fund-raising goals.

Ability to function independently, yet work in a centralized development structure for fundraising, participating in and contributing to a team effort.

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrates resiliency, high motivation and capacity for hard work within the context of an intensely goal-oriented environment.

Superior attention to detail in an environment where accuracy and timely completion of tasks is critical to maintaining faculty and donor satisfaction.

Excellent computer skills essential, including familiarity with prospect management databases and Microsoft Office applications.

Capability to handle complex and highly confidential information.

Ability to travel both locally and nationally, must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
