TITLE: CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY – TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alabama in Huntsville seeks candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Cellular and Molecular Biology starting August, 2022. The successful candidate will develop a research program with emphasis on cellular and molecular processes, bioinformatics, genomics or other areas of national interest. Researchers and research areas that can productively interact with the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, a center of excellence and innovation in sequence intensive methods, would be favored. Faculty will be expected to engage in funded research, mentor graduate and undergraduate research, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. Teaching assignments will primarily be in cell and molecular biology and related courses. The department values diversity and is committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community. The Department of Biological Sciences is housed in the Shelby Center for Science and Technology with spacious, well-equipped teaching and research facilities. Collaborative research activity is encouraged with the Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology and more than a dozen biotechnology companies in Cumming’s Research Park, all of which are located minutes away from the university. Cummings Research Park is the 2nd largest research park in the United States with over 285 high technology companies. Huntsville is a mid-sized city located in beautiful north Alabama, an area that boasts a reasonable cost of living and ample recreational and cultural opportunities.
