Assistant Professor - Design + Community

Applicants must have a PhD or DDes in a design related field such as urban studies, art, architecture, communication, information science, or computer science or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates are expected to have a program of research and experience focused on design + community, as applied to issues related to social good, social change, and/or social justice. Candidates' research or practice focus may address issues including but not limited to the intersection of areas such as race, sexuality, gender, class, age, health, migration, ability, and/or sustainability and the environment towards these ends. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths . The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
Candidates must show excellence in research as demonstrated by an active research program involving community-engaged methods and design-related practices, a record of publications in top tier peer reviewed journals within the above-mentioned fields or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to attract external research funding and/or research awards.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
