Job Description Summary
The associate director will work under the supervision of the Director of Knowledge Management and Marketing (DKMM) to manage programming for high-quality learning opportunities that include open enrollment and custom programs in online and in-person formats. This will include generating qualified inquiries and applications through network-based marketing (e.g., relationships with philanthropic intermediaries and networks), and then screening, interviewing, and enrolling the strongest candidates. They will recruit and manage faculty and guest lecturers, participate in design of curriculum; implement course delivery, including learner communication, classroom management, and development of class materials, including videos, documents, and digital assets; and engage the community of past participants. They will work independently to manage process for generating and analyzing learned pipeline as we grow and scale our programs from once a year to three times. They will research, develop, and market new revenue-generating curricular offerings and programs for corporate and philanthropic partners.

The associate director will work independently to plan and implementing CHIP engagement events per year, including webinars, convenings, and focus groups, both online and in person, related to CHIP's applied research and guidance. The associate director will also participate in CHIP's ongoing applied research and impact measurement efforts.

Position is contingent upon funding.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as program manager for educational offerings (noncredit short courses, paid webinars, for-credit classes and free events and webinars), including managing schedules and timelines, curriculum offerings, relationships and communications with learners, faculty, and partners for online and/or in-person open enrollment and custom programs per year. Develop new revenue-generating executive education and custom programs with DKMM, executive director, faculty, and Board of Advisors, ensuring alignment with Center values, mission, and strategic plan. Research market segments, design curricular offerings, and create and deliver funding proposals for corporate and philanthropic partners.
  • Use network-based marketing (e.g., relationships with philanthropic intermediaries, networks, Board of Advisors, and partners within the philanthropic ecosystem) to generate leads, screen candidates, and enroll learners with collaboration of faculty directors and DKMM through targeted marketing efforts. Employ Salesforce to generate and analyze pipeline to help and scale our programs from once a year to three times. Work with DKMM and Marketing Coordinator to develop, implement, and evaluate the success of new marketing strategies and plans to reach and engage wider audiences.
  • Plan and coordinate implementation for 20 - 40 Center web and in-person events and programs per year, vetting requests with DKMM and collaborating on execution with Communication Specialist. Responsibilities includes recruiting panelists and securing paid sponsors for CHIP-run events, vetting speaking opportunities with external events teams, researching and developing proposals for panels, keynotes and other speaking opportunities, student lectures, and creating and distributing of class materials, including videos, documents, and digital assets. For Center-hosted events, serve as co-host and Q&A moderator as needed. Contribute invitation, marketing and follow-up messages for panelists and attendees.
  • Serve as relationship and stewardship manager for Center stakeholders (including Board of Advisors, past learners, Penn students, faculty, guest lecturers, sponsors, and additional network members) to increase their engagement with, and financial support of, the School This means maintaining and building relationships through one-to-one and mailing list outreach. Design, develop, and deliver messaging, proposals, and presentations to external and internal audiences of philanthropists, nonprofit leaders, and Board of Advisors to promote and sustain engagement.
  • Create mechanisms for evaluating and improving the design of learning opportunities (i.e., Qualtrics surveys, focus groups); incorporate feedback from participants, advisors, and senior management team, and engage, build and cultivate the CHIP's alumni/advisor/influencer/ambassador network, communicating with them via email and Mailchimp and providing tools to amplify CHIP's impact. Manage student workers and summer associates to engage in market and product development research.
  • Support CHIP projects as researcher and analyst by conducting applied research for Center-wide initiatives, such as annual guides and disaster response. Train and supervise student workers and practicum students.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience are required. Master's degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred. Background in philanthropy and experience with planning and delivery of educational programs preferred. Experience with Salesforce, Canvas, and/or other classroom and contact management software desired. Excellent one-to-one and group communication skills required for written, phone, in person, and video outreach and response.
