Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director for Marketing Technology serves as a member of the Alumni Relations Communications Team, assisting in all aspects of digital marketing and online engagement.

Job Description

In this role the Assistant Director for Marketing Technology will help build strong tech transitions for Salesforce and Anthology Encompass (formerly iModules) by collaborating with Alumni Relations teams to support and execute marketing automation strategies and the overall marketing communication initiatives for Penn Alumni.

The Assistant Director for Marketing Technology serves as the liaison to the Penn Alumni Regional Clubs team to provide comprehensive consulting and support to club liaisons to ensure they are making best use of technology, alumni data, and best representing the Penn Alumni brand.

As the resident Salesforce and Anthology Encompass expert this position is responsible for executing email campaigns based on the marketing calendar, creating custom queries, amp script-based dynamic templates, email automation, A/B testing, and developing comprehensive journeys. This role will also be responsible for analyzing data, building reports, and providing recommendations based on testing.

In addition to supporting Alumni Relations and the Regional Clubs team, this role will be responsible for developing and sharing industry best practices in email marketing with alumni volunteers and staff and collaborating with PennISC and computing on Salesforce implementation and data integrity.

  • BA/BS and 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Manage and optimize the Alumni Relations tech stack. Maintain and improve the tools we use to run marketing and engagement campaigns, including Salesforce, Anthology, and Litmus.
  • Support Regional Clubs team in their use of community management technologies including building club websites and troubleshooting issues and enhancements with liaisons and volunteers, setting up club membership forms, monitoring data, and advising on payment processors and web domains.
  • Expert knowledge of responsive email development and principles and ability to create HTML content to work across different browsers and email platforms.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to HTML templates, list segmentation, tracking, and other aspects of email execution as required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to create documentation for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively with non-technical personnel and alumni volunteers
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Anthology Encompass
  • Candidate must demonstrate a high-level comfort with technology and a willingness to learn the functionality of new platforms.
  • Must be detail-oriented, pragmatic, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
