Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager leads the project management of institutional campaigns and department initiatives driving inclusive audience engagement, revenue, and mission-based goals for the Penn Museum. The Manager is an important liaison fostering collaborative workflows across department stakeholders, organizational partners, agencies, and vendors to ensure project deliverables are met on time and on target. This involves streamlining operations across project management systems as well as content and data management for social media, ecommerce, and CRM (customer relationship management) platforms. Also responsible for the collation of department dashboards, including audience survey reports, this role combines high organizational skills and analytical thinking with a passion for expanding cultural access to all through DEIA-focused marketing and communications work for the Museum.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Project management of marketing and advertising campaigns, promotions, as well as business administration needs. Collaborate with internal and external (agency, vendors, partners) stakeholders to establish timelines and ensure submission of materials.
  • Compilation and analysis of dashboards and reports for the Marketing and Communications department for data-informed decision making. Supports budget and financial reporting needs as needed.
  • Manage and optimize an institutional email protocol to support and streamline Museum's email marketing process and ensure database integrity as the Museum onboards with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (email); Lead segmentation and management of subscriber lists.
  • Manages and monitors content and engagement across the Museum's social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, including the Musuem's profiles in online communities: Google Business, Yelp, TripAdvisor. In partnership with Director of Marketing and Communications, develop an institutional social media strategy for publishing year-round content that promotes the Museum's educational mission and grows diverse audiences.
  • Supervise department interns and work study. Serve as a Marketing and Communications representative on the Of/ By/ For All committee and steward connected DEIA initiatives in the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

College education and three to five years in marketing communications work or equivalent combination of education and experience, required; Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Arts Administration, Art History, Anthropology, or other related studies. Experience in a cultural institution or non-profit preferred.

Demonstrated success with implementing marketing initiatives with measurable impact across audience and revenue growth; experience with establishing processes and systems to meet deadlines and achieve deliverables; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail. Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), project management software (e.g. Basecamp), email automation and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud), and analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Google Data Studio) required.
