The College of Health Solutions (CHS) at Arizona State University is seeking a Program Director for the nationally ranked Master’s of Science program in Communication Disorders. This full-time assistant/associate/full clinical professor is a fiscal (12- month) position in Speech and Hearing Science that includes leadership and administration of the program (both at the program and college level), didactic teaching and/or clinical supervision.   This is a non-tenure track position.  A typical workload for this position is 40% administration, 20% service and 40% teaching. This position oversees the program essential functions of accreditation, admissions, curriculum, budget, strategic planning, course administration and staffing. Collaboration with leadership and other program and clinic directors is an essential part of the job. Applicants must present evidence of teaching experience and a strong commitment to high quality teaching at the graduate level. This is a fixed-term appointment that is renewable annually, under the same terms and conditions, at the discretion of the college and university.

 

The Program Director will work with faculty across the college to address our Grand Challenges, complex and difficult health problems which require transformative collaboration, translational research and innovation. Through teaching, academic programs, service and research, the college is focused on these Grand Challenges: Addressing the systems of health care and the health needs of populations, and optimizing health and human performance of individuals across the lifespan. We are particularly interested in making an impact on populations with significant health disparities.

Current training programs include behavioral health, biomedical diagnostics, biomedical informatics, exercise science, health promotion, health sciences, kinesiology, medical studies, nutrition, population health, the science of health care delivery, and speech and hearing science. Our programs are offered at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Polytechnic, West and Lake Havasu campuses, as well as on Mayo Clinic’s campus in north Phoenix.

Required Qualifications

  • MS or PhD degree in Communication Disorders or a related field appropriate to the duties.
  • Certificate of clinical competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology.
  • At least 4 years of clinical or administrative experience.
  • Ability to provide service to the program and university, as well as to the community and profession.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Teaching experience with on-campus and/or online format.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of students, colleagues, and staff.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience and/or knowledge of professional accreditation requirements in the field and accreditation processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team that includes staff, faculty, students, and clinicians.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with community partners.
  • Clinical expertise in pediatric populations preferred, especially populations requiring interprofessional approaches to assessment and intervention with children and families including autism, school-aged language and literacy and AAC
