President

The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York (CUNY) and Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez invite nominations and applications for the position of President at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College. Hostos Community College is regarded as distinctive among the colleges of the CUNY system, as it was created in response to the demands of the Puerto Rican community and other Latino leaders who urged the establishment of a bilingual and bicultural college. Since its founding in 1968, Hostos has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving and improving the quality of life in the South Bronx and neighboring communities.

The College seeks a president who has the ability, commitment and vision to continue the college’s significant progress in student success and partake in the sense of pride at being part of the Hostos family that is embedded within the institution by the students, faculty, staff, and administration. The Hostos membrane is permeable; it is an open door, a true cornucopia of opportunities.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced and innovative leader who embraces and thrives in a multilingual, multicultural, urban environment; who values providing high quality educational services and support for students, faculty and staff; who will set the stage and build the bridge to transition to the post Covid-19 environment and usher a period of growth, prosperity, comfort and an even stronger sense of community.

As of the 2019-2020 academic year, Hostos enrolled 7,120 students served by a dedicated faculty made up of 196 full-time and 250 adjunct faculty and over 645 professional part- and full-time staff. The College’s budget is over $70 Million.

Hostos Community College is part of CUNY, the nation’s leading urban public university serving more than 500,000 students at 25 colleges.
