Lecturer - Department of Social Work

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Social Work at the College of Staten Island, of The City University of New York, invites applications for a full-time non tenure-track Lecturer position in Social Work beginning August, 2021. The successful candidate is eligible for a Certificate of Continuous Employment after five years of successful employment. This position is subject to funding approval. We are seeking applicants who can teach at the undergraduate and occasionally at the graduate level, who hold (or are eligible to hold) a clinical social work license (LCSW) in the State of New York. Candidates should have at least three years of social work practice experience. Responsibilities also include teaching, curriculum development, advisement, and service to the department and college.

The successful candidate will be committed to inclusive excellence and will have a history of effective and collaborative work with diverse groups. We encourage applicants who have experience teaching and mentoring diverse students. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply.

Performs teaching and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

MSW from a CSWE accredited institution. The ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate students successfully, interest in mentoring students, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A doctorate in Social Work or a closely related field, an MSW from a CSWE accredited program, three years of post MSW social work practice experience, and an interest in undergraduate teaching, curriculum development and accreditation are required. It is strongly preferred that candidates hold (or are eligible to hold) a clinical social work license in the state of New York.
