Professor, Open Rank, 4 positions, Biological / Chemical / Physical / Marine Geology & Geophysics

The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at Oregon State University invites applications for four (4) research-focused, tenure-track, open rank professor positions, who maintain or have the potential to maintain sea-going research programs. This is a cluster hire that promotes interdisciplinary research across four focus areas: Biological Oceanography, Chemical Oceanography, Physical Oceanography, and Marine Geology and Geophysics. Applications to more than one position are suggested for candidates with interdisciplinary focus.

We seek faculty members who will develop and maintain vigorous, externally funded, sea-going research programs. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with interests that complement or strengthen existing CEOAS research areas, and will instigate new and innovative college- and university-wide, national and international oceanographic research programs. The faculty members will participate in the CEOAS undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, and in the advising and mentoring of graduate students and post-doctoral scholars.

Biological Oceanography

Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, plankton physiology, phytoplankton ecology, evolutionary ecology, and/or benthic ecology with a focus on connections to biogeochemistry, biophysics, or paleoceanography.
See Biological Oceanography job posting 87958 .

Chemical Oceanography

Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, marine pelagic-, sediment-, or rock-fluid (bio)geochemistry, ocean chemical sensor development and applications, ocean chemical cycles and their paleoceanographic reconstruction, and physical chemistry of gases, fluids, and solids in marine environments including estuaries, seeps, and vents.

Marine Geology and Geophysics

Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, marine geology, geophysics, volcanology, paleoseismology, sedimentology, paleoceanography, geochemistry, and/or petrology.
See Marine Geology and Geophysics job posting 87956 .

Physical Oceanography

Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, process-based observational campaigns, ocean acoustics, and/or observational sensor and platform development. We welcome any applicant working in observational physical oceanography regardless of approach, including those whose work spans other disciplines, such as bio-physical and air-sea interactions.
