As the technical director, you will supervise all television, theater, stage and film productions, and live events in collaboration with other department leaders to create and adhere to appropriate budgets for labor and supplies for each project. In this role you will plan and maintain detailed production and design schedules; organize, advertise, and lead regular production meetings for SFLM productions with necessary stakeholders; and oversee SFLM shop staff. Responsibilities include managing department shops, coordinating with shop managers for production materials and equipment to ensure projects are in full compliance with OSHA and SCAD safety policies and procedures, and acting as lead supervisor in the transportation of all technical and design elements of each production for various venues.
In the position of technical director, you will collaborate with the creative team and director to address any issues that may arise during projects, review all production plans to be developed and approved on schedule, and maintain equipment inventories. You will be expected to supervise the use of all production equipment while maintaining the facilities and developing maintenance schedules, creatively mentor students through the production process, and support the department chair at various admission events. Other responsibilities include developing renderings into working drawings to be used in project execution, liaising between artistic teams and venue staff, and assuring all elements of production displays exemplify professional, quality production values for the first public performance or film/video shoot date.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least five years of industry experience and/or training in a scene shop with a minimum position of assistant technical director
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and digital rendering software
- Professional and operational knowledge of set production protocols, production tools, machinery, and techniques with ability to lead a professional work environment that mirrors industry protocols and standards
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and high standards in quality of work with commitment to safety protocols and standards and an understanding of current trends in theater, film, and television

- Have or be able to obtain a current Class "C" Georgia driving license
