Executive Director of Procurement & Strategic Sourcing



University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks an experienced, proactive leader to serve as the Executive Director of Procurement & Strategic Sourcing. Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President of Administrative Services, the Executive Director leads a team of six professionals responsible for designing strategies that enhance efficiencies in alignment with best practices to support the UMBC community in supplier selection, contract negotiation, and vendor management.

With a commitment to partnership, excellence, and continual improvement, the Executive Director provides strategic direction and solutions-oriented leadership for all aspects of the department and manages a procurement spend of approximately $160M across multiple functional areas. As a collaborative leader, the Executive Director acts as a player-coach and will identify opportunities and strategies to enhance technological utilization and processes to provide excellence in the procurement of a broad spectrum of commodities. The Executive Director will be responsible for architecting a strategic sourcing plan in the context of a dynamic and changing organization and will serve as the ambassador for contemporary procurement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of progressively responsible leadership roles and experience developing and executing strategic sourcing plans and leading teams. They are an exceptional project manager and communicator and have demonstrated evidence of cultivating relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and publicly representing organizations.
