SCADSavannah seeks a full-time Professor ofArchitecture to instruct an array of talented students. AtSCAD,architecture students learn to apply historical, cultural, theoretical, and aesthetic concepts in combination with technical and practical expertise to design buildings that add value to the world and how people experience it.
In this position, you will leadarchitectural design studio courses in all areas of the curriculum and will lead additional required and elective courses in your area of expertise. Particular strengths in sustainability, prototyping, and parametric design are highly valued. You will contribute to the BFA program, the NAAB accredited M.Arch program, and-with the university’s growing enrollment-the Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) bridging students from undergraduate through the graduate program to successful completion of the architectural registration exams.
Housed in theSCADSchool of Building Arts, the architecture department also leads study abroad programs at the university’s location in Lacoste, France. As part of a community of diverse and highly credentialed colleagues, you will have access to the largest physical library holdings among art and design schools in the U.S. You and your students will have exclusive access to objects of study at theSCADMuseum of Art,SCADFASHMuseum of Fashion + Film, and the Lacoste History Museum. This global network of libraries, museums, galleries, and signature events provides unparalleled opportunities for students to explore the emergence of innovative forms of expression and engage in scholarly research.
The ideal candidate must have a professional degree in architecture. Candidates with proven knowledge and experience successfully completing projects in the built environment, leveraging innovative building technologies, and communicating effortlessly with a diverse student body across all disciplines in the School of Building Arts are strongly preferred. The successful candidate will add critical knowledge and experience in building design technologies to the department's expertise, as well as an ability to support the university study abroad programs, including SCAD Lacoste. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A professor teaches courses as determined by contact hours and following their credentials, university needs, and a signed employment agreement. In its sole discretion, the university may assign the professor to a teaching or non-teaching position as stipulated in the employment agreement.
