As the shop technician for foundation studies, you will be expected to model and promote professionalism and excellence while working with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure buildings and display spaces are professionally represented and in outstanding, cleanly condition. In this position you are responsible for overseeing the student monitors, maintaining inventory control and documentation of permanent collections, maintaining and repairing equipment/tools according to OSHA and EPA standards, and organizing safety paperwork. Responsibilities include assessing departmental needs to propose facility improvements, making new purchases, photographing and editing current student work for quarterly documentation, and curating and preparing educational galleries.
In this role you will regulate collection storage, perform administrative duties, maintain the still life collection at various buildings, and help to organize the department for SCAD Days. You must be comfortable working in coordination with the faculty, staff, and students and serve as supervisor to the student employment program. Additionally, you will oversee the Operation Showcase 360, assist in the installation of student work, offer workshops on equipment usage and work documentation, assist maintenance with repairs, ensure all work is labeled properly, and maintain the 3D tool inventory.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Knowledge of proper maintenance of studio materials and equipment and inventory control with experience using 3D tools and equipment
• Ability to photograph and document student artwork
• General knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
• Experience maintaining an organized, clean, and especially safe working environment
• Excellent organizational and Microsoft Office skills
Travel Required:
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
