SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time professor of cinema studies with advanced knowledge of the history of film, cinema, and the moving image to provide students with the expertise to investigate and explain the complex relationships between context and cultural production.
As a professor of art history, you will join the SCAD team of more than 40 highly credentialed art history professors from diverse backgrounds to motivate students to think creatively and critically in an active and engaging learning environment. In art history coursework, you will help students gain a curiosity for creative inquiry, invention, critical thinking, and visual analysis. You will also guide students as they navigate historical and contemporary expressive practices through critical encounters with art, artifacts, and other forms of cultural production.
You and your students will have access to the nation’s largest physical library holdings among art, design, and music schools, including collections of rare, valuable, and significant works, as well as exclusive entrée to objects of study at the SCAD Museum of Art, SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film, SCAD FASH Lacoste, and the SCAD Retour en 1856 in Lacoste. Enriching lecture series, symposia, and events invite visiting scholars and artists from across the globe to engage in creative discourse. Recent guests have included Carlos Cruz-Diez, Alfredo Jaar, Carrie Mae Weems, Philippe de Montebello, Jerry Saltz, and Louis Menand, to name a few. This global network of libraries, museums, galleries, signature events, and more provides unparalleled opportunities for students to explore the emergence of innovative forms of expression and engage in scholarly research.
SCADSavannah is woven throughout one of the world's greatest places, as named by TIME magazine in 2021.
