Associate Chair of Luxury and Brand Management

Modeling academic and professional leadership as the Associate Chair of Luxury and Brand Management, you will create a strong sense of collegiality and of shared responsibility for the department's goals, working with faculty on curriculum development, assessment activities, and policy/procedure requirements and implementation. You will maintain a visible on-site presence, ensuring that all services related to department academic offerings are planned and delivered at the highest quality, without any interruptions.

In this full-time role, you will assist in developing course schedules and facility use, conducting classroom observations and faculty performance evaluations, and will assist in the hiring of faculty. The associate chair makes decisions on student academic matters, including the review of applications and internship placements and assists in the recruitment of students. This position oversees the departmental budget and teaches courses, as determined by the number of contact hours listed in the employment agreement.

This position also requires leading faculty and staff in showcasing outstanding student work throughout the year at SCAD Days and other high-profile events. You will coordinate the submission of student work to competitions and awards in conjunction with the institutional recognition office and compile reports/reviews requests.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in the discipline or a relevant field
  • Leadership and supervisory experience in academics or significant professional experience in an appropriate discipline
  • Distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and/or professional expertise
  • Successful career as a faculty member or discipline professional
  • Leadership ability to transform strategic vision into implementation
  • A commitment to teaching and learning
  • Thorough understanding of curriculum development and utilization of assessments
  • Ability to conduct thorough evaluations and observations
  • Knowledge to define the needs of the department
