Circulation Specialist

As the circulation specialist you will offer friendly and efficient assistance to library patrons and assist in locating relevant resources to support their academic and creative endeavors. In this position you will open and close the library, ensure a secure and organized environment, and manage the library's collection in an orderly fashion. The specialist collaborates with the Savannah library to facilitate inter-campus book and article requests and assists in processing interlibrary loans, donations, journal subscriptions, and new acquisitions to enrich the library's collection.

As the circulation specialist you will participate in planning and executing outreach activities that promote the library's resources and services to both students and faculty while contributing to the development of marketing materials and strategies to increase awareness of library offerings. Additionally, you will oversee work-study students.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Familiarity with library users, cataloging procedures, and proficiency in database searching
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, adapt to shifting priorities, manage resources, and maintain knowledge of the Library of Congress number system for shelving books

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in library settings
  • Knowledge of art and design resources

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
