SCAD Atlanta seeks a part-time professor of graphic design to help lead the next generation of award-winning designers.
The core of graphic design at SCAD is the “Thinking by Doing” pedagogy. This approach - defined by three top-line objectives called “The Three Cs: consume, comprehend, create” - develops designers who understand and articulate their work from an informed point-of-view. From this foundation, students generate successful market-ready ideas, connect thought with form, and integrate work across media.
As a professor, you will aid students through peer and client collaboration in a productive, high-energy environment. You will also guide students as they learn to see the world differently and explore multiple perspectives in the field of graphic design.
The successful candidate can articulate a vision of a graphic design education in the 21st century. This vision aligns with the department’s mission of producing preeminent visual communicators who connect research abilities, social responsibilities, and pragmatic work to deliver content via visual systems. The candidate should have extensive experience working as a graphic design lead at different levels as well as the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in typography, print, and interactive design. The candidate should also be comfortable teaching in cross-disciplinary teams focused on experiential projects.
The capital of Georgia, Atlanta provides both southern charm and the ebb and flow of an alpha city. Located in the heart of Midtown, SCAD Atlanta is home to remarkable students and faculty as well as a vibrant cultural landscape that includes theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops, and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine.
