Professor of Illustration

SCAD seeks a full-time professor of illustration to help prepare the next generation of award-winning illustrators.

In this position, you will deliver courses of the highest quality, demonstrate model leadership to students, foster a positive learning environment, fulfill departmental duties, and contribute to the university’s strategic goals.

The successful candidate is well-versed in both the history and future of illustration trends, and is an experienced concept illustrator for characters and environments. Professional expertise in animation, gaming, and mobile gaming is preferred, as is proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop. A strong working knowledge of 3D programs such as Maya, ZBrush, and Blender is also essential. The candidate should also possess a style, aesthetic, and viewpoint that is unique and innovative.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Terminal degree (or equivalent) in the discipline or in a relevant field.
• Academic and professional credentials to teach in a certain discipline.
• Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
• Experience in or knowledge of related professions.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent drawing and painting skills.
- Proven record of published illustrations
- Experience in Concept or Entertainment Design
