SCAD seeks a part-time professor of foundation studies for its Atlanta location. In this role, you will join a team of dedicated faculty in developing the next generation of leaders in art and design.
At SCAD, the University for Creative Careers, the undergraduate experience is anchored in foundation studies - a thoughtfully curated series of courses that build the visual, conceptual, and creative abilities essential to students’ development as professionals. The skills learned in foundation studies help propel SCAD students into a wide array of major-specific disciplines. As a professor, you will become an essential part of the SCAD foundation studies team as you teach, assist in the development of curriculum and assessments, collaborate across departments, exhibit, and support university initiatives.
The successful candidate has a strong portfolio of professional work, as well as the ability to teach drawing and design classes in an active and engaging learning environment.
Located in the heart of midtown, SCAD Atlanta is nestled within a cultural landscape that includes theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops, and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine. Through rotating exhibitions atSCADmuseums and galleries and the university’s extensive permanent collection, you and your students have exclusive access to objects of study at SCADFASHMuseum of Fashion + Film in Atlanta, theSCADMuseum of Art in Savannah, and the university’s numerous galleries. Enriching signature events invite visiting artists like Carlos Cruz-Diez, Alfredo Jaar, Carrie Mae Weems, Hank Willis Thomas, Dustin Yellin, and Omar Victor Diop, among others from across the globe to engage in creative discourse.
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience at the collegiate level
Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Ability to be credentialed through SACS guidelines or justified to teach

- Terminal degree in related discipline
- Professional experience or knowledge of related industries
