Professor of Industrial Design

SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time industrial design professor to motivate exceptional students to solve design challenges, consider strategic business objectives, and shape the form, function, and emotional experiences of communities around the world.

In this role, you will use your industrial design experience to lead an active and engaging learning environment that mirrors professional studios. Relying on your record of innovative and clever product development, you will motivate exceptional students to solve design challenges, consider strategic business objectives, and shape the form, function, and emotional experiences of communities around the world. Working alongside a diverse student population, you will lead collaborative studios and discover opportunities to partner with the changemakers of leading brands such as AT&T, Dynacraft, Mattel, Microsoft, BMW, and more, to generate imaginative, feasible solutions to real-world design challenges. The result: outstanding portfolios that help graduates land their dream careers.

The successful candidate understands user experience design, product conceptualization and development, prototyping, and construction. Advanced visualization and sketching abilities are essential. A keen eye for developing memorable solutions and product aesthetics is a must, as is a thorough understanding of the design process. Experience designing productions that become marketplace disruptors is preferred, as is university-level teaching experience.

Named among the best small cities in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler and listed by Moviemaker Magazine as one of the best small cities in which to live and work as a filmmaker, Savannah offers an inviting climate and a culturally rich downtown that provides a real-world workshop for the study of art and design. Buoyed by this stimulating atmosphere, SCAD industrial design students have been recognized for their innovative proposed solutions to real-world problems by international organizations such as the European Product Design Awards, Core77 Design Awards, and the Red Dot Design Awards, where industrial design students have consistently won several Best of the Best Awards.
