Part Time Professor of Animation

The SCAD animation program is grounded in the philosophy of storytelling through character performance. As a professor, you will directly influence the next generation of animators through your unique perspective and background, professional experience, and technical proficiency. You will also extend students' knowledge of story, design, audience, and collaboration in animation production.

The successful candidate is enthusiastic about bringing complex scenes and characters to life and should be comfortable teaching an array of courses from beginner to graduate-level, including 2D and 3D animation concepts like modeling, character design, and character performance, among others. A strong understanding of commercial or independent filmmaking and cinematic language is an asset, as are exceptional interpersonal communication and organizational abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in animation or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as Maya, Toon Boom, Blender, and ZBrush
  • Reel, website, or flatbook of your own character-performance work that displays the animation process
  • Reel, website, or flatbook that displays your former students’ work (if applicable)

Preferred Qualifications: University-level teaching experience

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Ability to be credentialed through SACS guidelines or justified to teach
