Director of Community Engagement

As a Director of Community Engagement, you will develop and lead achievable strategic plans from concept to completion, including executive office initiatives generated through relationships with donors, investors, and community and civic leaders. You will work with communications, public relations, marketing, and other departments to promote SCAD to the community and on special projects determined by the president or chief of staff. You will also design, organize, help prioritize, and implement outreach initiatives that inform and transform community perceptions and nurture positive publicity.

Through high quality, engaged networking and service, you will invite community members to events to generate attendance, ticket sales, and investment in SCAD programming; engender support for SCAD, and distribute information and promotional materials to businesses, organizations, and other entities throughout Savannah, Atlanta, and other destinations while traveling. You will provide tours and serve as host for high level university guests; participate in select community activities, civic programs, professional meetings, and conferences on behalf of SCAD; and provide guidance and support to staff to ensure an elevated guest experience across university events. Among other duties, you will also develop and implement engagement opportunities that leverage SCADstory and SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film.

The successful candidate is a spectacular written and verbal communicator with equally exceptional interpersonal skills. A demonstrated ability to deliver results is essential, as is an enthusiasm for being a brand advocate. The candidate should also have a keen eye for detail, organization, and creativity.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
  • Minimum of three years of experience in external or VIP relations and development, fundraising, donor outreach and data reporting, and/or a related field
  • Ability to build and nurture successful partnerships across organizations and cultures

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
