Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position to be filled at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 1, 2023. Candidates are sought in all fields of experimental, computational, or theoretical materials science and engineering. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to conduct high-impact research that will broaden the discipline and reflects the future of the field. Candidates are sought who pursue materials research and engineering to solve some of the world's most difficult challenges in energy, climate, health, computing, and communication, informed by the critical importance of finding sustainable solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out research, teaching, and service while building a vibrant research program that contributes to the department’s mission and is committed to supporting diversity, equity, and a community of inclusion. Applicants should hold a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field by the time of appointment.
