Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Vice Dean/Director of Admissions, the Associate Dean for Recruitment is responsible for developing a comprehensive and strategic plan for undergraduate recruitment that embodies mission and values of Penn Admissions that cultivate a diverse and talented applicant pool for Penn. This includes developing recruitment efforts that promote intentional equity and collective care to reach a national audience by creating and/or responding to opportunities that initiate new approaches, collaboration, and leadership.

The Associate Dean will demonstrate strategic boldness and a creative mindset that generates enthusiasm for new opportunities and effectively organizes ideas and people into successful and measurable implementation. This includes devising and leading outreach strategy and efforts across various physical and virtual channels. The scope of work includes close collaboration and integration with all functions of enrollment (including equity and access, international, partnerships, and selection), marketing and communication, and operations.

Additionally, the Associate Dean will serve as a public speaker in a range of forums with prospective students, parents, secondary school, counselors, and Penn Alumni. As an admissions officer, they will also manage a geographic territory and have direct responsibility for the recruitment, evaluation, and selection of candidates to Penn's undergraduate programs. The Associate Dean will directly supervise three to five admissions officers staff with dedication to individual staff growth and development

Job Description

Duties:
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive plan for admissions recruitment. Responsible for creating tools to support regional recruitment, leading the training of recruitment staff, and measuring the success and impact of recruitment initiatives.
  • Serve as a senior admission officer with territory management responsibilities to recruit, evaluate, select, and enroll undergraduate freshman and transfer candidates to Penn.
  • Supervise three to five admissions officers who oversee aspects of the recruitment portfolio.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree is required and 7 years to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in higher education and selective college admissions preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with many different constituents essential. Experience with candidate evaluation and selection is important. Collaboration and leadership are essential. Familiarity with admissions CRMs (e.g., Slate) is essential. The candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to provide direct management of their team along with indirectly influence over a larger group of staff outside their direct reporting line. Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects in a high volume and timeline driven environment. A valid driver's license and limited recruitment travel required as needed. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree preferred.

Targeted Pay Range:

$61K-102K commensurate with education and experience.
