Job Description Summary
Ryan Veterinary Hospital is seeking a temporary part-time Behavioral Nurse to work 16 - 24 hours per week.

Job Description

Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Restraint (+/- venipuncture) utilizing minimal stress handling techniques for patients (dogs and cats)
  • Client communication
    • Monitoring/manning behavior service email ‘BeClinic@vet.upenn.edu'
    • Providing behavior service information for appointment inquiries and addressing basic client questions/concerns
    • Handling medication refills
    • Obtaining medical records and completed client questionnaires prior to scheduled appointments
    • Coordinating with the appointment desk and clinicians on scheduling/rescheduling appointments

Once comfortably trained:
  • Discussing behavior modification techniques with clients
    • In-person after their appointment with their clinician
    • Via email
    • Via nursing appointment, in-person or virtual
  • Assisting with student teaching
    • Minimal Stress Handling rounds
    • Training rounds
  • CHOP dog evaluations


Qualifications:
  • Must be a CVT
  • Minimum of one year of experience is required
  • Prior experience with behavior a plus but not required
  • Interest in Behavior Techniques
  • Low stress handling experience
  • Ability to restrain large dogs
