The Department of Biobehavioral Health Sciences at the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of small animal neurosurgery, including the use of state-of-the-art chemogenetics, optogenetics, single cell/nuclei transcriptomics, as well as strong experience in behavioral neuroscience using multiple species as models. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and a strong publication record in a number of these areas.

Responsibilities may include working in consultation with the principal investigator to oversee the day-to-day completion of multiple in vivo research projects examining the underlying neurophysiological controls of emesis and feeding.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop independence by helping to define the direction of the research program, writing and submitting collaborative and independent funding applications, and writing and submitting peer reviewed scientific manuscripts.
