Job Description Summary
Based in Philadelphia, this position reports directly to the Senior Director of Venture Lab. The Senior Associate Director provides leadership for key strategic priorities of Venture Lab through the design and delivery, launch, management, growth, and end-to-end operations for a portfolio of co-curricular programs including, but not limited to Social Entrepreneurship and Bet on Entrepreneurship (BoE) programs.

Job Description

The Social Entrepreneurship initiative is a comprehensive program with multiple program elements that involve internal, cross-organizational partnerships and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for leading launch and managing a portfolio of high-impact initiatives on social entrepreneurship and development, implementation, and integration of new initiatives to strategically expand student learning in social entrepreneurship. This includes the following: increasing impact among students and their social enterprises; promoting social entrepreneurship at the University of Pennsylvania; developing a speaker series with a focus on social entrepreneurship; supporting faculty offering courses in social entrepreneurship; coordinating with Penn student clubs related to social entrepreneurship; creating a new fellowship program for undergraduate students; partnering with the Penn Wharton Innovation Fund to award learning grants for social entrepreneurs looking to test concepts for new social enterprises; assessing feasibility of creating a new Social Entrepreneurship track within Venture Lab's Startup Challenge competition; offering Venture Initiation Program (VIP) Workshops and VIP-X awards to social entrepreneurs upon acceptance to Venture Lab's VIP and VIP-X programs; offering entrepreneur-in-residence (EIR) services to social entrepreneurs at Venture Lab; liaising with students, faculty, staff, and alumni to develop a Penn community of social entrepreneurs; and creating a new online microsite focused on social entrepreneurship at the Wharton School.

Develop social internship program and lead program design and delivery; assess program expansion to other regions and based on analysis, develop strategic approach and expansion plan; create and manage partnerships with external partners, donors, and other stakeholders; cultivating relationships on campus & developing creative ways to engage faculty and students and connect them to relevant programming in substantive ways. This position will market these initiatives, lead engaging presentations, create data driven reporting, and develop other creative ways to connect with a broad range of audiences.

The position is responsible for budget management and creation of annual work plan for the identified programs, preparation of management reports; development of performance measurement plan and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve, iterate and scale programming. The position requires frequent interaction with seasoned, accomplished alumni entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other professionals engaged in entrepreneurship and innovation careers, including significant donors. The position requires a high level of judgment and professionalism in cultivating relationships with alumni, including donor stewardship. The position is also responsible for cultivating an open rapport and a professional, supportive educational approach with undergraduate and graduate student entrepreneurs and innovators from all disciplines across the University of Pennsylvania.

While schedule is generally business hours, some ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekend hours and to occasionally travel is needed. This position is located in Philadelphia on Penn's campus. After successful completion of the introductory period, this position is hybrid eligible with some weeks requiring more in-person work as needed.

This position is contingent on funding.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 7 years of professional experience related to entrepreneurship and innovation and data analytics OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university with preference given to degrees related to social innovation, business, sociology, and leadership studies - Deep knowledge of social innovation/entrepreneurship to develop and lead a portfolio of programs; demonstrated track record of leadership ability and innovative thinking; visionary, creative, and entrepreneurial person. - Demonstrated skill in program development, design, and management, including creating work plans, managing budgets and developing financial plans, forecasting and tracking expenses, and monitoring and evaluating program performance against objectives. Experience with data analytics, developing dashboards and frameworks for business and programs. - Excellent judgment and ability to respond positively to mentoring and direction. - Demonstrated ability to function both independently and as part of a team - Ability to interact effectively and comfortably with diverse group of students, senior executives/professionals, and staff with demonstrated ability to cultivate and manage relationships professionally and with good judgment with a variety of stakeholders. - Must be organized and detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of professionalism. - The successful candidate will be adept with technology and have the ability to multi-task in a time sensitive, high pressure environment, meet deadlines, prioritize workload and execute flawlessly on critical programs. - Must possess skill in Google software applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides) as well as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat; cloud-based tools like Beautiful.ai, Monday.com, and Typeform; email marketing tools like ActiveCampaign; additional tools such as SQL, data visualization tools; Qualtrics, SurveyMonkeyApply; and headless web platforms such as Brightspot are preferred.
