The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of catecholaminergic regulation of hippocampus-dependent learning and memory. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting independent and collaborative research using advanced cellular, circuit, and behavioral manipulations in hippocampus-dependent learning and memory. A strong record of original peer-reviewed publications, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills is also required.

Candidates should have expertise and demonstrated experience in using viral tracing, optogenetics, in vivo pharmacology, and behavioral manipulations in rodents with a focus on the dissection of circuits involved in the regulation of memory. Proficiency in stereotactic surgeries using mice and fluorescence imaging is also important. Finally, an understanding of the literature underlying the cellular and circuit mechanisms associated with memory and addiction is desirable.
