Job Description Summary
The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.

The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the "go-to" organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.

Job Description

We are currently seeking an Alliance Project Manager to support the GTP and Orphan Disease Center (ODC) alliance programs.

Reporting to the Chief of Strategy and Business Officer, the Alliance Project Manager will play a central role in the day to day operations of the GTP alliance management function. They Alliance Project Manager will act as the single point of contact for all GTP alliance operations related communication (internal and external) and will server as a key liaison with all relevant stakeholders, including Finance, PCI, ORS and external GTP alliance partners. The Alliance Project Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of critical alliance business operation functions, including the development and implementation of key performance indicators for the alliance portfolio, performance management processes and alliance operational dash boards. The Alliance Project Manager will also have responsibility for leading select processes that support continued improvement of the GTP alliance management function. The Alliance Project Manager will be responsible for scheduling and leading relevant alliance related meetings and assure that all decisions and actions are captured in order to meet alliance objectives. This role will involve close collaboration with external GTP alliance partners, internal GTP project management, GTP finance, the Penn Center for Innovation (PCI), and the Office of Research Services (ORS).

The successful candidate will have a proven track record and demonstrated experience of successfully managing a range of project activities within a complex organization. Specific experience with university-industry alliance partnerships is a plus. The Alliance Project Manager should possess very well developed communication and organizational skills. Priority will also be placed on problem solving skills, team work, and proven contribution to team performance and efficiency.

Qualifications:
  • 5+years of experience working as a project manager, alliance manager or similar position required. Experience in a life science organization or university is a plus.
  • BS degree required. MS degree in relevant area is a plus.
  • Must be experienced in managing day-to-day project/program activities for teams within a complex organization.
  • Experience working within industry-academic partnerships is preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously is required.
  • Must be a self starter but also have a strong desire to contribute and work collaboratively with team.
  • Must have a track record of success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks.
  • Must be highly functioning and detail-oriented.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
  • Highly collaborative team player who fosters open communication and facilitates mutual understanding and cooperation between all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-directed individual who is able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project).
  • High level of integrity and professionalism required
