Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Jul 1, 2021
Deadline:

The University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) invites applications for the Joanne and Raymond Welsh Chair of Child Welfare and Family Violence . SP2 seeks an accomplished researcher, educator, and visionary with a solid commitment to child welfare, child and family wellbeing, and family violence scholarship and teaching. The successful candidate will join the Field Center for Children's Policy, Practice & Research as a Full Professor and Faculty Director, and work collaboratively to advance the mission of the Field Center. The candidate will also teach in our master's and doctoral programs, including in the MSW Child Wellbeing and Child Welfare Specialization.

We aim to hire a colleague who shares SP2's and the University's core values of social innovation, impact, and justice, and who has a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education through their scholarship, teaching, and service.

The faculty selected as the Welsh Chair will have research and teaching experience in a distinguished academic or comparable setting and credentials in Social Work or a related field. We aspire to identify a colleague with a record of significant scholarly accomplishment and excellence in teaching and service appropriate to an appointment at the rank of full professor at a university with very high research activity (The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, 2018).

The ideal candidate would have effectively contributed to their field over a sustained period of time, achieved superior national and international recognition, and whose work is judged to be rich, truly significant, and path breaking. The candidate will promote research collaboration with faculty both within and outside SP2 and the University, and with major child welfare, child and family wellbeing, and family violence agencies and organizations locally, nationally, and internationally.
