The Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Board certified or board eligible in general internal medicine is required.

Teaching responsibilities may include working a portion of clinical time on general medicine teaching services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center or the Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) service. Candidates will also be expected to mentor medical students and residents. There are also opportunities to teach advanced practice providers and engage in lectures and small groups in the medical school.

Clinical responsibilities may include work on non-resident, acute care hospital services and also may include specialized populations such as LTACH service, or consults/surgical co-management. Core practice sites are the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center, and Good Shepherd Penn Partners/Penn Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine.

Prior experience as faculty such as chief residency or time in general medical practice, especially in hospital medicine is strongly preferred. At least two of the letters of recommendation must comment specifically about a candidate's excellence as a teacher. Candidates must also have an established area of academic concentration, which may be evidenced by invited national presentations, receipt of teaching or other institutional awards, completion of a graduate program or professional certificate program, publications or significant institutional, regional or national leadership roles. Successful candidates will benefit from Penn's robust mentorship and faculty development programs and rich opportunities in quality/process improvement, informatics, medical education, and health care innovation. The candidate is not required to participate in research or secure grant funding, however they are strongly encouraged to participate in scholarly activity and collaborate with other faculty within the university.
